There is No Fucking Secret: Letters from a Badass Bitch — by Kelly Osbourne

I go back and forth on Kelly Osbourne. She’s unapologetifcally herself, but she’s also really messy and reactionary and problematic. But I’m more than capable of putting aside general dislike for a person to read their words and see if they translate better on the page (or, rather, their ghost writer presents them better on the page than that person does in real life), so that’s why I picked up this book.

This book is a series of letters to different people and things, and honestly, there’s no real point to reading it. There are no profound insights, no relevations, nothing of interest. I did laugh occasionally, like when she said she and her family “innocently” allowed MTV cameras to film their lives. Yeah, okay. I can think of a bunch of adverbs for that sentence and none of them would ever be “innocently.”

But if you’re a fan of Kelly’s, I think you’ll enjoy it. She’s charming enough on the page – or her ghost writer is – and the main themes are pretty uncontroversial: love yourse-lf, be yourself, focus on what matters.
